The TechCrunch and Mashable Effect

On Wednesday this week I blogged about Finland being the first country to mandate a broadband line for every citizen. This post was announced on Twitter and Facebook, and I mentioned @robinwauters in my tweet as being the inspiration for my blog.

Shortly thereafter my blog was listed as a follow up story on TechCrunch. When Mashable mentioned the same fact, I entered a comment on their site, linking back to my blog post.

The effect can be seen in the graph below:

Some conclusions from this graph:

  1. Apparently I blog every other day, will try to make this every day in the future
  2. Getting a reference on TechCrunch and commenting on Mashable gets you traffic.  Re-emphasises the importance of both sites, and their respect and trust in the community
